Fourth
and Short: Niner’s Dish Out a Recipe of Whoop-ass by Bill Barnwell
In this article, Bill
Barnwell explains how the 49ers brought their “A” game when they played the
Chicago Bears last Monday night on Monday Night Football on national
television. Everyone around the league thought the Bears had a defense with no
weaknesses. I would say the San Francisco 49ers exploited the Bears defense and
made it seem like the whole Bears defense was super super weak. I always knew
that the Bears defense was not as good as people say it was because the Packers
were struggling at the beginning of the year and even the struggling Packers
put up 24 points on the Bears defense and won the game pretty handedly. I kept
telling people sooner or later the Bears defense would suffice and become the
Bears defense that everyone in the NFC North conference was used to seeing on
Sundays.
Next is the quarterback
controversy between the 49ers original starter Alex Smith, who didn’t start due
to injury, and the 49ers “backup” quarterback Colin Kaepernick who led the
49ers to a big win over the Bears last Monday night. Alex Smith has always been
a so –so quarterback since the day he was drafted. He has not brought a lot to
the table like he was supposed to. Now with Alex Smith being hurt, Colin
Kaepernick stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. If I were the head coach
of the San Francisco 49ers I would keep the wheels turning and not look back. I
would give Colin the job and say it was his job to lose.
